This is Melanie writing to you from one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Two and a half hours I sat in anticipation on the high speed train from Madrid to Barcelona.

A little trivia about Estación de Madrid Atocha – the railway station was rebuilt by Spanish architect Alberto de Palacio Elissagne in collaboration with Gustav Eiffel. The unembellished steel and glass structure encases a great volume of open space surrounding a lush garden. Even in modern standards, the Madrid station runs efficiently and calmly, constrastly to the more lively Barcelona.

Walking around Barcelona is an easy feat, as we are staying at the centrally located Hotel Regina. Like many hotels in la Rambla area, its interior has been renovated to a contemporary aesthetic, though keeping some classic features. It is the perfect union of old world and new. Outside, there are many shops, cafes and tapas bars lining the streets. Tomorrow, shall we choose to eat at a modern restaurant or a cozy taverna?

Do you believe in reincarnation? Last night I watched a film* where a father passes away suddenly and his children are certain that their father’s spirit lives within a fig tree in their yard.

Ok, how about a hypothetical idea of being reincarnated as beautiful inanimate objects, like furniture? Too superficial? Maybe.
If furniture could embody or perfectly describe less metaphysical qualities like personal taste, aesthetic or energy of a being, well damn, did this one ever speak to me.
